Georgia Cancels Radio Spectrum Auction
The Georgian telecoms regulator, the National Communications Commission has cancelled a planned auction of additional radio spectrum in the GSM1800 and UMTS bands. The regulator said that no bidders had submitted applications by the deadline of 5th October.
The Auction was declared failed at the Session held today by the Georgian National Communications Commission.
In related news, the licence for radio-relay links was sold for GEL7,008 (US$4,182) at an auction. Only one company "Real TV-Georgia" is willing to acquire the licence.
The Georgian National Communications Commission announced the Auction for acquisition of the right to use the radiofrequency spectrum licence in Tbilisi on the basis of the Commission's Decision of September 11, 2009.
