Sweden to Verify Mobile Services Comply with Regulations
Sweden's Data Inspection Board and the telecoms regulator, the PTS have announced a joint project to review whether the way in which subscriber and location data in mobile content services is dealt with complies with applicable laws and rules.
"Operators pass on details that may be sensitive for individual users. For this reason, it is important to review how mobile operators are dealing with the transmission of this data," says Marianne Treschow, Director-General of PTS.
The Data Inspection Board and PTS, which are the respective supervisory authorities in charge of enforcing compliance with the Personal Data Act and the Electronic Communications Act, are now initiating a joint project to examine flows of subscriber and location data between mobile operators and mobile content service providers.
"This cooperation project provides us with a unique opportunity to jointly investigate whether personal integrity is being infringed in mobile content services," says Göran Gräslund, Director-General of the Data Inspection Board.
A joint report will be presented this autumn.
