Seychelles Government Services Tol Be Connected to SMS in 2009

APA - Port Louis (Mauritius) The Seychelles government online centre will offer more computerised services to the public as from 2009, APA learns in the Mauritian capital Port Louis.

Newrajlall Burton, president of the Administrative Council of the State National Computer Board (NCB) told journalists Wednesday that the board was only waiting for the green light from the government to set the ball rolling.

He said for the first semester of 2009, the NCB will launch five e-services which will allow many state offices to communicate with the public through the SMS.

All the procedures should first be defined, he said, adding that the NCB has already launched some services on a pilot basis and that many requests have been been received from different ministries to be connected to the SMS project.

Also Burton pointed put that there is a great need to sensitize the public on the utilisation of e-services which will cover, at the initial stage, essential services including health, education and agriculture.
